You know that feeling of deja vu?

It’s an overwhelming sense of familiarity with something that shouldn't be familiar at all, but for some unknown reason it is. That warm sensation you get when something just feels right, an instant comfort. Maybe it’s a dream, a scent, a memory… something that is welcome but holds a splash of excitement within… that’s how I describe my work.

I am a thirty-three-year-old artist currently living and working in Melbourne, Australia. I graduated from RMIT in 2015 with a Bachelor in Fine Art majoring in Painting, and an Advanced Diploma of Visual Art. I am currently undergoing my master of secondary teaching to become a visual art teacher.

My practice broadly reflects a contemporary abstract approach to art and focuses on creating an aesthetically pleasing experience for my audience. I focus on the themes of inner emotion, self reflection and surrounding environments.

I use bold and highly saturated colours to evoke strong emotions. My work explores the idea of taking an audience into another world by creating natural and meditative environments.

This is done so I can re-create a memory or place for my audience which will differ for each individual viewer. I’m interested in seeing and hearing the viewers thoughts on how the artworks are interpreted in their minds. It’s interesting to hear how the viewer's “inner self” sees the artwork and how they can use their imagination to explore the different possibilities within my works, how it can evoke emotions or memories.

I paint in a free flowing, organic gestural mark making manner to reflect my subject matter. I take inspiration from the places I have travelled too, different flora and fauna and the natural cycles of the environment in my surroundings.

Within these areas I use my femininity and my role as a woman in today’s world to influence my artistic style and incorporate a gentle, dreamy aesthetic. This also ties into the theme of the sublime which I aim to awaken in my work, to give an impression of awe and wonder that is alluring and attractive.

I also donate an artwork every year to help raise money for breast cancer events such as pink ribbon as this is a cause close to my heart.
